Zebra Technologies’ WS50
Meet the world’s smallest Android enterprise-class wearable mobile computer
Every day millions of workers scan millions of items with the help of wearable terminals worn on the wrist, hip, or hand. Although convenient, sometimes these devices can be a bit clunky, often disconnect from mobile access, and require two pieces of hardware to collect the data needed.
That’s not the case with Zebra Technologies’ new, innovative, all-in-one WS50 Android wearable computer. It’s half the size of traditional wearables and includes a small display, WiFi, and an imager or camera, eliminating the need for multiple devices supporting hands-free workflows such as picking, sorting, loading, and put-away.
The WS50 offers data capture capabilities and an integrated speaker and microphone to support task management and communication in warehouse, manufacturing, and retail environments. With the option of three different wearable styles — including back-of-hand, wrist, or on the fingers — the ergonomic WS50 wearable computer provides users with the flexibility they need that’s right for the job.
Why is the Zebra WS50 unique?
Besides being much smaller than most wearable devices, the WS50 was built using one of the most unique component combinations of any enterprise device to date:
- Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 4100 Platform / SDW429w, quad-core, 2.0 GHZ
The Zebra WS50 is the first enterprise device to feature this powerful computing core.
- Embedded microphone and speaker
You’ll also have the option to use a Bluetooth-connected headset in noisy warehouse and manufacturing environments.
- Bright AMOLED color display, optically bonded to Corning® Gorilla® Glass touch panel
It supports finger and glove touch and has a wider range of viewing angles than other wearables, making it easy to read and input detailed information on a two-inch screen.
- Removable hot-swappable battery
This is a key feature in enterprise wearables to protect against critical data loss.
- Programmable buttons on the wearable
This allows for customization of key presses based upon application requirements: enter, next, navigation, push-to-talk, photo capture, etc.
- Zebra Mobility DNA suite
Key tools to assist in deploying and supporting the WS50 include StageNow, Mobility Extensions, DataWedge and Enterprise Home Screen.
It’s rugged, modular, and at home everywhere
